Dungeon

For technical details about dungeons, see zone. For the dungeon lua functions, see dungeon (functions).
A dungeon is an area in PMDO. Exploring and completing dungeons is the primary goal of PMDO, and they are used to progress throughout the game.
Details
Dungeons are labyrinth-like structures that are randomly generated with multiple different floors. Each dungeon is unique with different generation patterns, items, traps, terrain, enemies, and features. The core goal of exploring a dungeon is to find the stairs of each floors to progress.
Features
Enemy Pokémon spawn thought the floor and serve as the primary challenge of dungeons. Most enemies encountered are given customized movesets rather than their default level up movesets, often serving to offer specific challenges to the player.
Terrain is seen in most dungeons. The types of terrain that can spawn are water, tall grass, lava, swamp, and abyss.
Different effect tiles also spawn, the most common spawns including wonder tiles and traps. Wonder tiles are useful for handling status debuffs, while traps serve as a hazard that activate a negative effect if stepped on.
Restrictions
Some dungeons have restrictions applied to them, which can constrain the player in multiple ways.
Level restrictions are featured in multiple dungeons. Some dungeons cap the player at a somewhat large level, while others drop the player's level directly to level 5. In addition, some of these level restricted dungeons also forcefully take away the player's previous moveset (most often the level 5 restricted dungeons) while others allow the player to keep all the moves they have.
Team size may also be restricted. This can be done in two ways: A limit on the number of party members a team can have at all, and forcing the player to enter with a single party member but being able to recruit Pokémon in the dungeon to the active team.
Items and money taken into the dungeon can also be restricted. Money is either allowed or disallowed, while the player may be allowed to take a certain number of items in with them. Treasure sometimes is excluded from this restricted limit, allowing the player to bring it with them regardless of the amount.
Side Paths
Some dungeons may have side paths attached to them, which are optional sub-dungeons that are entered through some method other than simply finding the stairs that lead out. Secret stairs lead to these secret dungeons, and are typically hidden behind a vault, as an unrevealed tile, or a stronger enemy.
