Forewarn
Ability ID forewarn
Description Avoids the strongest move that the opposing Pokémon has.

Forewarn is an ability in PMDO.

Effects

If attacked by the enemy's strongest move, the Forewarn user will automatically avoid the attack. Which attack is the strongest is determined by which one has the highest base power.

In the case of a tie, the move that appears earlier in that Pokémon's movelist will be considered the stronger attack.

If the attacker only has one damaging move, that move will always be avoided. Regular Attack can not be blocked by Forewarn, even if all of the Pokémon's other moves are status moves.

Outside multipliers such as same-type attack bonus, abilities that increase a move's power, or attacks that differ in power based off of certain conditions, such as distance, are not considered.

Strategy

Using Forewarn
  • If fighting an enemy with only one damaging move, Forewarn almost completely prevents them from damaging the user.
  • If you know which move will be blocked, you can sometimes stand at a specific distance to coax the enemy into using it. For instance, if the enemy's strongest attack hits from 4 tiles away, and their other attacks hit from 3 or less tiles away, standing at a distance of exactly 4 tiles will cause them to always attempt to use it every turn.
  • Moves that can't miss, such as Aerial Ace, ignore Forewarn; don't get lax around Pokémon that know them.
Fighting Forewarn
  • Moves that can't miss ignore Forewarn.
  • In the case of a tie between two damaging moves, you can control which one Forewarn blocks by switching the order of the attacks in your move menu with the "Shift Up" and "Shift Down" commands. This does not use up your turn, and can therefore be done freely to always have the move you want available.
