Help:Uploading sprites

This page will demonstrate how to upload game sprites to this wiki.

Acquiring the sprite in question

All of PMDO's sprites can be found in the RawAsset repository. Folders of interest include:

• Item — item sprites
• Portrait — Pokémon portraits
• Icon — status icons
• Object — miscellaneous, including traps, and stairs tiles.

When you find the sprite you're looking for, download it at its original size.

Uploading the sprite

For a single sprite, use the Special:Upload page. Select the file in the file selector.

For all sprites except Pokémon portraits, use the original filename as the "Destination filename". For Pokémon portraits, use the name Portrait_[POKÉMON NAME].png, where [POKÉMON NAME] is the name of the Pokémon. For example:

• Portrait_Charmander.png
• Portrait_Farfetch'd.png
• Portrait_Alolan Vulpix.png

Click the "Upload file" button. Before you use the sprite, be sure to add it to the correct category.

Adding the newly uploaded sprite to the right category

Visit the page for the sprite you just uploaded, and click the Edit button.

Add the appropriate category to the empty text box:

• [[Category: Item sprites]] for item sprites.
• [[Category: Portraits]] for Pokémon portraits.
• [[Category: Status icons]] for status condition icons.
• [[Category: Tile sprites]] for trap, stairs, and Wonder Tile sprites.

Hit the "Save Changes" button. You are now ready to use the sprite on wiki pages.
