Shiny Pokémon

From PMDOWiki

Shiny Pokémon are rare Pokémon that possess a different color palette than other members of their species.

Odds

A shiny Beedrill spawning in a Monster House.

In most dungeons, any Pokémon that spawns has a 1/1024 chance to spawn as a shiny Pokémon. This includes Pokémon that spawn in vaults or in hidden areas.

In a Monster House, the odds are greatly increased, with every Pokémon that spawns having a 1/32 chance of being shiny.

Preset Pokémon, such as bosses or NPCs, have no randomization, and will only be shiny if set to be so by the creator of that dungeon or mod.

Gameplay Differences

Shiny Pokémon have no differences in stats, AI behavior, or experience gain compared to other members of their species.

Whenever a shiny Pokémon first spawns, a sparkling animation will appear on top of it. If playing as a shiny Pokémon, this effect will repeat at the start of every floor, and every time that Pokémon is made team leader.

Shiny enemy Pokémon have a differently colored icon on the map, having a more purple or magenta hue as opposed to the usual red. They also have a star next to their name in the message log. Player-controlled shiny Pokémon do not possess these differences.

Glittery Apricorns are specifically made for shiny Pokemon, having an increased chance of recruiting them but a lowered chance of recruiting any other Pokémon. However, the Player may still recruit shiny Pokémon by using other Apricorn types as normal without any penalty.

Roguelocke

Starting as a shiny Aron in Roguelocke mode.

In Roguelocke mode, it is possible to customize all aspects of your starter Pokémon, including whether or not it uses its normal or shiny coloration.

If doing a Roguelocke dungeon that allows team transfer to the Player's main save, several restrictions are put in place if the Player chooses to start as a shiny Pokémon.

Under normal circumstances, if the Player successfully clears the dungeon, all members of the Player's team can be sent to the Player's main save, regardless of whether or not they fainted or were sent to assembly.

If beginning the dungeon as a shiny Pokémon, that Pokémon may not be removed from the active party while it is still conscious, but may be removed and sent to assembly after it faints. If it was replaced and sent to assembly, or it was in the Player's final party but had fainted while another surviving member cleared the dungeon instead, the shiny starter will not be able to be transferred.

A shiny Pokémon that is found randomly and recruited mid-dungeon does not have these restrictions, and can always be transferred as normal.
