Rescue

From PMDOWiki

A rescue is when one team travels to the dungeon another team has fainted in, and then reaches the room that they fainted in to allow that fainted team to continue that dungeon.

Usage

Rescues can be performed to let a team continue attempting a dungeon that they fainted in from where they fainted. Some dungeons don't support rescues, while most dungeons have a maximum amount of times one can be rescued on a single dungeon run.

The rescued team may offer a reward to whoever rescues them. However, these rewards may only be given if the rescue is performed through connecting over a server, not just by sending mail through files.

If internet connectivity is used, the rescuing team may place items for the rescued team. This is useful in circumstances where the rescued team fainted due to running out of belly or PP, as those stats are not restored after a rescue.

Rescues With Mods

The PMDO version and mods (alongside their version) must be the same between the rescuer and the rescued, even if the mods used are purely visual. For example, if the rescued team had the Music Notice mod enabled, the rescuer must enable that mod in order to do the rescue. This is because PMDO has no method of differentiation between mods that make gameplay changes and mods that don’t.

Loaded mods must be available for a rescuer to download for the rescue to be carried out as a result.

The rescuer also must only have mods that the rescued team has.

Rescue Mail

Mail is used to communicate information about rescues, which is managed in the Pelipper Post Office.

First, the player that needs to be rescued sends SOS Mail. The rescuer accepts it by talking to the Pelipper in the right counter, which will begin the rescue attempt. When the rescuer successfully completes the attempt, they create A-OK Mail that must be then sent back to the rescued team. Once the rescued team redeems the A-OK Mail, they can proceed to continue the dungeon that they fainted in from where they left off.

Mail may be read by talking to the Pelipper on the right counter, and connections can be made using the left counter.

Mail Over Server

Mail may be sent over a server, which is connected to by talking to the Pelipper in the left counter. By getting the information of a friend who is also connected to the server, mail can be exchanged.

Mail Over File

Mail can also be sent by sending files. Upon fainting, a .sosmail file will appear in the relative folder RESCUE/OUTBOX/SOS. This file can be sent over the internet, and anyone who wishes to take the rescue can place it in their RESCUE/INBOX/SOS folder.

Once the rescue is completed, a .aokmail file will appear in RESCUE/OUTBOX/AOK. Then, this file should be sent back to the rescued team and placed in RESCUE/INBOX/AOK. Rewards are unable to be exchanged through this method.
