Usage
The key can be used to unlock certain corridors, dungeon chests, and vaults in a dungeon. It is consumed upon use.
Strategy
Keys may be sold at the base town shop for 2000 Poké per key.
Keys will often have a chance to spawn in the dungeons that they may be used, but are not necessarily guaranteed. They should be brought when going to a dungeon that uses keys beforehand, in order to receive rare loot.
It is common for the final floor of a dungeon to have a locked area with exclusive treasure, and so bringing an extra key when clearing dungeons can be a good idea.
