Confusion deals damage and has a 50% chance to inflict the Confused status.
Strategy
Confusion has good power, range, and PP for a move typically learned at low levels, and a useful secondary effect. However, it is held back by its 2-tile minimum range, forcing the user to rely on other moves for close-quarters fighting. It is recommended to put Confusion users in the second or third party slot, allowing them to deal damage from range more effectively without worrying about foes entering their minimum range.
Enemies with Confusion, in open areas, can be dealt with by moving diagonally to approach while staying away from the tiles which Confusion can affect. In hallways, dash moves such as Tackle can be used to get into Confusion's minimum range safely.
