PMDOSetup

PMDOSetup is the installer and updater for PMDO. It is used to manage the install of the game, by pulling builds of PMDO. It may be downloaded from github.

Using PMDOSetup

To run PMDOSetup, find the directory where PMDO was installed. Find the PMDOSetup file, with a different extension depending on the operating system, and run it. A console should open up, with multiple different options to select from.

Note that, on most Linux distributions such as the Steam Deck, running PMDOSetup works differently than Mac and Windows. The console must be opened inside of the folder with PMDOSetup (usually by right clicking and picking the "Open Terminal" or equivalent option), and then the file run by typing ./PMDOSetup.

Updating

PMDOSetup will always preserve the save file when updating, but it is recommended to resolve any quicksaves and rescues while updating to avoid invalidation. When an update option is selected, the updater will fetch the latest version of the component that can be found for the operating system.

Uninstalling

When uninstalling from PMDOSetup, the save data present on the system will be preserved. All other data will be deleted.

Downgrading

In some contexts, downgrading the version of PMDO may be necessary. This is typically used in the context of a mod, where downgrading may be required to play it.

With PMDOSetup running, type "5" in the console selector to change to the downgrade menu.

The Left/Right arrow keys can be used to navigate between versions, with 9 versions to choose from being shown per page. PMDO versions down to 0.7.11 are available to downgrade to.
